About Me
I’m Deane Alban and I can’t remember a time I didn’t love houses. My dad was a building contractor and I have fond memories of the smell of paint and lumber, feeling a sense of awe as I watched his houses go up, and hanging out with my dad on Sunday afternoons at his open houses.
On summer breaks, I could be found working alongside my dad, painting and hanging wallpaper. My first full time job was working at an interior decorating studio.
I’ve been investing in real estate for my personal portfolio since 1982 when I bought my first rental property. In 2004, my husband and I founded Pretty Nice Properties, a full service real estate investment company.
I am particularly proud of Pretty Nice Properties’s “rent-to-own program” where we turn tenants into homeowners, improving families and neighborhoods one house at a time.
My mission is to turn every house into an asset to its community – responsible home ownership is the key to strong communities.
My hobbies include landscape gardening and traveling. On vacations, I love to go to open houses, model homes, and Lowe’s to compare regional inventory differences. (Yes, I admit that’s a little weird!)
I am also a graduate of Investors United School of Real Estate, America’s first professional school dedicated exclusively to real estate investing. I’m a regular contributor of real estate articles to many websites and I’ve earned the status of “Ezine Articles Platinum Expert”.
