House Rules
Here are the “rules of the house” – designed so that all of us get the most out of our time here. Imagine that I’m in a room with all of you – those who now own The Truth About FSBO system. My goal is to moderate our discussions so that, to the best of my ability, everyone gets their needs addressed. So, my replies to your questions and comments will be made with everyone in mind.
My posts will include any kind of information that I think will help you sell your home, including the occasional rant. (Sometimes, it’s just good to let off steam - as long as there’s a lesson to be learned!) The posts might be short or long, but I will always try to be helpful.
We need a way to keep everything organized, so I’ll sort my posts in two ways – categories and tags. Tags are applied to each post to link the contents of the post with certain topics. For instance, if my post is about staging, I might use the tags “staging”, “prepare to sell”, “supplies”, and “house preparation”.
Each post will also be sorted into a category. Here are the categories I’ll start with:
Administration: This is where you can find information and ask questions about paperwork matters for selling your house. This would include contracts, disclosures, escrow, and insurance matters.
Preparation: Get information and ask questions about getting your house ready for sale. Examples include handling repairs, de-cluttering, staging, and getting your house ready for open houses.
Marketing: Read about and ask questions about marketing your house here. Examples here include where and how to advertise, using the MLS and alternative listing sites, and working with a mortgage broker to market your house.
Strategies: Find information and ask questions here about selling strategies. Questions might involve the reasons for using the “FSBO 2.0″ model, how The Truth About FSBO system can help you even if you decide to use a realtor, or how to price your house, talk to buyers, or negotiate.
Miscellaneous: This is where you can find information and ask questions about “other stuff” that doesn’t fit into the above categories.
I suggest that when you visit, browse a bit to see what’s being discussed. Some of your questions may already be answered. Use the search functions, including the search field at the top left of the home page, to help you.
If you don’t see that your question has been addressed, then post a comment/question.
To post a new question, choose a post within the most appropriate category and click on “# Comments” below the title of the post. Then, at the bottom of the page, type your question in the box below “Leave a Reply” and click “Submit”. Your comment will appear immediately above where you entered it, in numerical order with any other comments, and with your username, date and time.
Feel free to post comments, questions, and even answers to comments of other members of the community. I am always amazed at the insights and expertise I see from other people who are not “experts”. All of us can learn from and help each other.
Of course, any testimonials about how the system, the community, etc. have helped you are much appreciated!
Here is a reminder of basic “blog etiquette“. When posting questions or comments, please:
Be courteous. Stay on topic. No bad language. No blatant self-promoting. No spamming.
If you want to share a post with others, hover your mouse over the “Bookmark & Share” icon at the bottom of the post. You can bookmark the post using the social network icons on the “Bookmark” tab. You can also email a post from the “Share/Email” tab there. These are both great ways to let others benefit from the good information you’ve found.
That should be all you need to know to get started. Let me hear from you! I’m really looking forward to making The Truth About FSBO Community the best resource there is (besides The Truth About FSBO system, of course!) to help you sell your home quicker, more reliably, and much more profitably than anyone else.
Welcome!
